Why you don’t need a big social media Following
And why it’s important to know where your target market resides

Happy Sunday everyone!
I can’t lie, I’m a bit nervous. I’m going in for a bit of minor surgery tomorrow and given my absolute baby-like temperament — I’m freaking out. It’ll be OK though, I know it will. Thankfully, writing this newsletter is a welcome distraction!
A reader wrote in last week asking about social media and whether a good profile is essential in finding clients as a freelancer.

It’s important to remember that a big following on social media is essentially a free form of advertising. If you go down the social media route, your aim should be to gain recognition as an expert in the space so that when a client thinks about hiring, they think of you. On the contrary though, you can waste a lot of time trying to gain a following on social media without much gain, when instead you could have been approaching companies/responding to job adverts and social media callouts. So it’s always a bit of a balance.
